About Benevia Poultry

Software people and hatchery people, working on the same problem.

Who We Are

Two partners, on purpose

Benevia Poultry was established in 2025 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania as a subsidiary of Benevia Software. It exists because hatchery software tends to fail in one of two directions; either built by developers who have never worked a hatch day, or built by operators without the engineering depth to keep a platform supported and evolving.

We are set up to avoid both. Benevia Software provides the development foundation, technical expertise, infrastructure, and organizational support. Hillside Hatchery provides more than 20 years of practical hatchery-operating experience, workflow validation, product testing, and honest feedback from people who live with the results.

That second partner matters for a specific reason. If you have ever bought custom software that depended on one developer, you know the risk: when that person changes priorities or becomes unavailable, your options narrow. Benevia Poultry is supported by an accountable product, implementation, client success, and support team rather than one individual.

What We're Working Toward

Mission and vision

Our mission: helping poultry businesses simplify and automate.

Our vision: to become the poultry industry's trusted software partner — providing a platform that simplifies operations, unlocks business potential, and supports healthy long-term growth.

Adoption, not installation

We do not consider a project successful because software has been deployed. Success means users are trained, in-scope work has moved into Benevia, previous processes can be retired, and routine double entry has ended. That standard is written into how we run implementations — you can read the specific criteria on the Proven Process page.

Authentic

  • We take ownership of our work, decisions, and results.
  • We value truth over comfort and clarity over ambiguity.
  • We act with integrity even when no one is watching.

Others First

  • We lead with service, respect, and teamwork.
  • We listen actively and assume positive intent.
  • With customers: care, honesty, reliability, long-term trust.

Persistent

  • Meaningful results come from consistent effort, not shortcuts.
  • We approach obstacles with a solution-focused mindset.

Observant

  • We notice details others may miss.
  • We seek to understand before acting.
  • We speak up when something needs attention.

Creative

  • We solve problems rather than accepting limitations.
  • We value ideas from every role.
  • We combine imagination with execution.
Industry Perspective

Arthur "Art" Detweiler

Art is the Visionary of Benevia Poultry and the founder of Hillside Hatchery. With more than 20 years of poultry-industry and hatchery experience, he brings firsthand operational insight to the work — and keeps product decisions anchored to real hatchery requirements rather than assumptions about them.

The Competitive Question

Hillside Hatchery may compete with you

For some prospective customers, Hillside Hatchery is a competitor. Raising that ourselves seems more useful than waiting for you to ask.

Hillside Hatchery never has access to your data. Access is governed by Benevia Software, and that does not vary by customer or by request.

Hillside people do sometimes staff implementation and frontline support, which is where their hatchery experience helps most, and most customers treat that as an advantage. If you would prefer they were not assigned to your account, say so during scoping and we will staff it differently.
